Fancy Fuel

My own little test – over 2 weeks:

Standard unleaded gives me 40.4 mpg or 0.089 pence per mile

BP Ultimate gives me 43.5 mpg or 0.928 pence per mile

Not that scientific but same journey, same roads and same traffic conditions. My average speed (measured by the on board trip which I accept is probably not very accurate) on the runs with regular unleaded was 43 mph and with the Ultimate it was 44 mph. Without getting too fussy I'm happy therefore that the driving style was similar in both runs.

I think things would improve with the Ultimate once a few tanks have gone through and as it has cleaning agents etc. so I’m tempted to go with the fancy stuff from now on as it seems to work out almost equal VFM.

BTW - Unleaded was 79.9 ppl and Ultimate 88.9 ppl when I did my comparisons.

I should have mentioned that this is in the Yaris not the IS (43.5 mpg - I wish !)

0.1 pence per mile with standard unleaded??? lol (Maybe a factor of 100 out??!) and 10 with the Ultimate?

I use Ultimate aswell..I reset my Trip A Odometer when I filled her up on Thursday so I will now see for how many miles it lasts in the Yaris..I've been using it practically since I brought her last March

I dont use Ultimate casue it cost TOO much when you can get the same ()or better) fuel from a Shell :)

Ha - I'll get it right in a minute - yes 0.089 (just under 9 pence) and 0.092 (just over 9 pence).
