Landcruiser Steering/suspension Problem?

Hi all.

I have a problem with my 1997 3.0 TD landcruiser prado (import). When driving it pulls to the left badly. If you allow it to pull (taking hands off the wheel at slow speed) the wheel turns to the left in a notchy movement (turn slightly, stop, trn slightly, stop etc...). Also when turning left there is a knocking feeling coming through the wheel - also happens slightly when braking. Ive jacked the front of the car up and checked for play in the steering rack etc and all seems fine as does the tyre wear so im stumped!

Has anyone come across this before?

P.S. I have the landcruiser for towing a caravan not off roading and im pretty sure its japanese owner didnt use it off road either.

Many thanks for your time,

Phil.
