Well I use a hand car wash and valetting service. Not that you could tell if you saw my car at the moment.

yeah i use a hand wash service too, but yesterday i was in a rush so i went into one of them washing machines (for cars obv lol) at SAFEWAY/MORRISONS!!!! and i put the ariel down as low as i could, and then could hear this screaching sound as the blow dryer was at the car (drying itt off). and what it was doing was it was bending the ariel in the wrong direction....was gonna rip it clean off the roof as-well as a lump of the roof, so i just drove out of it and let the machine work away without me actually being in it....was luky...got out jst in time, last time ill use one of them...

When I bought my current car, the dealer even showed me that the aerial screwed off and told me to remove it before using one of those car washes. It's never ever been in one though.

I have owned Yaz from new.. (5 years) and not once have I -EVER- put her through a mechanical car wash.... no way.. no how... uh uh nope.. never :P

I go and get her hand washed occasionally, especially at this time of year... or do it meself

I've only ever washed my T3 by hand, or I paid a group of lads up near Lakeside £4 for the privilege..I never use the supermarket/petrol garage washes either!

This Yaris, my matiz, my dads fusion, the espero before them, the punto sporting, the nubira, the escort, the carina, the orion... over the last 12 years... not once has any of our cars gone through a car wash, either my dad (when i was younger) or me... last 10yrs has exclusivly cleaned our cars, by hand, at least every month.

My Yaris gets a wash almost every week now... by hand with good products! What's shampoo... £8 for a good bottle? Polish... £15 for half decent? Chamois... £10? Sponge £1? (if that!)

So, on my maths, that's £32 for about a years worth of polishing, 4 months of washing (buy more sponges as required!) and 8months to a year's worth of drying and my car looks very clean, has perfect paint and i havn't paid a machine £5 for the pleasure of ruining my car!

my car has never been thru a car wash since i got it. and never will. it needs washin atm but its too cold. did a 1 hour journey to see matt aka moffmo on fri after his accident and u should see the state. its all white with some very creative lookin streaks down the side
