I agree that cars have got bigger, but why can people with bigger cars seem to park fine too?

Why can they park fine? They can't... They end up using so much of their parking space, that they cant help but open the doors into the shiney cars paintwork next to them, fact.

There's just a minority of people who can't park.

Theres plenty of people that can't park, but when it comes down to car park parking, its about lazyness, people lead busy lifestyles, and cannot be ubikd to park properly. Also, the people who tend to door bang, are those in their company cars who couldn't give a crap about what happens to it.

If I'm parking up, I tend to find a nice shiny car that looks well cared for, and park next to that.

As mentioned above, just a hand on the door to stop it hitting the car next to you is a simple enuff task.

Sure its very simple, doesnt mean people can be bothered to do it though!

I have a bit of sympathy about the 11pm parking but as a disabled driver I get absolutely p!ssed off with idle prats who use those spaces during the day just because they are closer to the cash point or the main door. Can't these people think? That's exactly WHY the spaces are where they are - because it takes me at least twice as long to get out of my car and get to the door than they do.

The excuse about there being empty spaces is sometimes fair but hardly ever during the day. If there isn't a space there, I can't shop - simple as that. I have to go home or try somewhere else or drive round or wait for a space and hold up the traffic. That's what happens - but these people either can't or won't see it. Selfish.

Sorry about the length of the rant but it is important, at least to folks like me. :)

Might have been better to quote the piccy or state at the time what was so funny, as that does read badly ie you were laughing at someone with a disability :(

So!

Every time I go and park in an empty space with nothing for miles around, when I get back there is always a car parked at the side of me.

It's you! :P

I had that today in Lakeside, parked in the middle of the car park where there was nothing around for two rows either side...got back and what was taking up TWO spaces next to mine..it had parked right over the white lines that separates the bays from each other...a CAVALIER!!! Was so annoyed!

Don't worry - I knew what it meant and wasn't offended.:)

I thought the sticker was funny too but they shouldn't be stuck on like that.

I do exactly the same, return to find some beat up Cav parked next to it.. (again, several hundred free spaces)

I hate it when your parked up, then some pregnant fish pulls up, a bit tooo close for your liking.. :arrgg-matey:

i always use disabled bays at tesco's late on theres about 40 of them and there's usually about 10 cars in the whole car park... but if anyone looks at me when im getting out i just drag my leg along :P

Or better still - you could put a pair of really dark sunglasses on and carry a white stick when you get out of the car. :D :D :D

You could always work for the firm round here that supplies curtains and has vans with the logo "Caution - Blind Man Driving" :D

Seriously though - having been disabled since a car accident 13 years ago it has made me realise the inconsiderate nature of some drivers in taking up disabled spaces. In our town there are about 10 spaces in the town centre and any fool must know that there is hardly ever a time when they are not needed by disabled drivers. But they still use them "just for a minute while I go to the cash machine". Sadly the great majority of these people are teens to thirties so there's no excuse other than laziness is there?

Nail on the head

Lazyness, lack of consideration for others, and sometimes plain ignorance!

I totally agree - I just object to the parent/child ones, or people who can't be bothered to park properly, etc.

Kidkoala - you will be happy to know that your Corolla Gti is a very strong car!:D

I was driving an identical one when I had my accident and although it was a write off we survived. One of the people in the big Mazda that came out and crunched us head on didn't.

Anyway - keep the car. I'd love another one if I could get in and out more easily.

I'm not a fan of poorly built cars, hence the toyota :D I've had a couple of golfs in the past which were solid too.

I do have a history of driving minis too, but hey, you've got to take some risks in this life, and minis hold the road better than ANY other FWD car ever made.

The first and only crash I ever had was 3 days after passing my test, a BMW came round a sharp corner in the wet/dark there were leaves everywhere etc. I was driving a 1.0 Fiat Uno... I ended up swerving to avoid him at about 40 MPH, went up the embankment (country lane) missed a lamp post by about a foot, then rolled over into a ditch, and landed on the roof.

Not one pain of glass smashed. The car was a write off though, all the panels were mashed, and I had to kick the door off the hinges to escape, as the ditch turned out to be a stream and it had been raining heavily, the car started to fill up with water with me stuck inside it upside down!

Must agree about the Minis and roadholding, I loved mine. I had two Imps though and while they didn't have the ultimate grip of a Mini the handling was much better. You could be in and out of the bends while the Mini was still scrubbing tread off the front wheels!

The Corolla GTi is a good compromise. Reasonable comfort, great reliability and whatever performance you want it to have. :)

I'm always tempted to park next to one in Tesco. :D

Hmm not sure I can agree about the imp out handling the Mini. Was your mini well set up? adjustable shocks, negative camber arms, hi los, poly bushes all round etc etc?
