He is a legend.........Not many people dare to take on the BIG car companies and set up their own. Even if he ultimately didn't suceed he achieved notoriety with THAT car......

R.I.P.

He might have been as dodgy as hell, but I think the world (unlike the British Government) would have been a much poorer place without him...

Pontiac GTO and the DMC1? Wonderful ;)

John did a lot more than the GTO for Pontiac, IIRC.

RIP John :( You'll be missed, and the car world owes you.

At least now he can ask Colin Chapman where all the money went!

Yeah. A 130 hp Renault V6 was probably not the wisest choice for a sports car.

Same motor found its way into a few Volvos too, notoriously unreliable.

A Yaris 1.3 with 3 fat people in it could give a DeLorean a run for its money, but it sure did *look* cool going slow!

There's absolutely no doubt that the car was ******* beyond all belief but it lives on as a legend in the back to the future movies and will continue to even after the last one goes to the scrap heap. Not many of them die tbh as they were aluminium so the bodywork usually stays in A1 condition. Only reason they are scrapped is because the engine finally packs up or someone was a bad enough driver to stack such a slow car (Or bad luck occurs with diesel on the road surface etc before anyone who has crashed at low speed complains at me I've done it too. Thanks diesel :D)

The car's body was stainless steel, not aluminum. Either way, it makes for a body that stays nice (but is impossible to clean!)

I've seen DeLoreans with Mazda rotaries and Cadillac Northstar V8s in them....seems a few did get tired of the car's slowness ;)
