Transfering My Private Plate?

My car has a private plate on it...well its an irish plate!

I want to keep it when i sell the car but apparently i cant transfer it??

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Its a uk car and the plate was fitted sometime in its life but not from new i.e the car didnt come from ireland.

No guessing please peeps, the cars going very soon and i need to know asap

Why not just ring the equivalent of the DVLA,

After a quick google, I found that you can transfer them but it is a complex procedure.

As KidKoala Says Ring the IRish Equivalent of the DVLA or contact a reputable transfer company and hand over some pennies!!

to transfer a plate u need to go the dvla with the tax disk and certificate of the private plate ownership and also the V5 for the car. i think thats it

u then fill in the details of the new car the plate is going on and they do all the paperwork. costs £80 for admin to do all this

dont forget the MOTs for the car(s) and you need to fill in a V317 and a V10 form!

I hate them, there is alot of hard work involved!

They are! lol they take 48hours to 7days to do at the tax office!

I just looked at mine and it seems I own the plate (well do now!!) and the previous owner has also got another number to put back on it in retention. Dunno if thats any help..maybe you need to put a plate back on it

I'm just gonna leave it on the car, it adds to the value of it i suppose and i dont really need it....
