Hi was about to buy a Chrome plated rocker cover for my 2 but a mate told me a cheaper option, go to Halfords and purchase the omp fire paint, which can withstand tempretures ranging from 260C onwards.

should i go for this cheaper option or just buy the whole rocker cover???

What do you guys think??

Will the paint peel off 1 yrs down the line? :crybaby:

You can get 900 degree paint aswell !

but id paint it, chrome aint all that unles everything under the hood in proper bling !

If you go for paint

Plasticote from such as Halfords is fine.

Heres mine, No signs of flaking or peeling, gives a good finish too.

Yeah mines painted blue, using High Temp Engine paint.

I would only recommend using high temp paint

It's really only needed for stuff like the exhaust that really DOES get hot. Mine was painted with normal paint and I've painted other engines with normal paint. My MG Midget engine was painted 10 years ago with regular paint and no problems what so ever.

You don't need high temp paint, regular paint works fine and it has NEVER faded, cracked or anything else

LOL, thanks mate. Just takes an afternoon of taking the inlet, tvis and cam cover off, wire brush to remove dirt and grease so paint will adhere, prime up a few layers and then paint the silver on with a few layers. Take your time so as not to rush and ruin and then bolt back. The heat shields I did with a polishing kit I have, bought from a hardware shop. They need to be rust free really to get the result I did.
