Is It Worth Doing?

Hi. I've just got a quote from www.stainless-exhaust.com for a custom made 4-2-1 stainless steel exhaust manifold and downpipe for my corolla e10 with a 4efe engine. They wanted 350 - 450 plus vat. Is that a reasonable price to pay?

What bhp gains can I expect by fitting a 4-2-1 exhaust system? I already have a K&N panel filter, Remus back box and a straight through mid-pipe without the silencer - made a noticeable improvement, especially @ higher rpm and it is not loud at all

Just want to get my car to 100bhp (90bhp current), till I can afford to buy something faster.

Is that the 1.4 engine? Sounds interesting. What is its bhp and torque standard? Have you got it on a dyno? Where did you get straight through pipe and do you replace this at MOT?

Hi. Yes, it's the 1.4 engine. Standard bhp is 87 (have a look in 92-97 corolla in www.parkers.co.uk under reviews)

Got the straight through pipe from www.motorsportworld.co.uk, and it doesn't need to be replaced for mot(but it's not TUV approved ), as it only replaces the standard silencer in the middle section. The cat stays where it is.

Will get the car dynoed, when all the mods are done - should be some time this summer.

The 4e-fe is a 1.3, not 1.4

I Agree, I have a 95 corolla myself with a 1.3 4E-FE engine, and i think i have reached the max power im going to get, im pushin 94bhp accordin to a rolling road, and its 87 standard, I have a straight through cat back exhaust system, and i pipercross Viper Induction kit, and i think thats the best im going to do to be honest power wise

Sounds like about £100 per HP to me (if the rest of the engine is up to scratch)
