Engine Speed Increase

Oddly when I change gear, foot off the accelarator, foot on clutch, the engine speed increases.

Seems very odd. Is this correct or do I have a fault?

I have a 2004 T3-X. 2litre petrol

The same thing happens, particularly when changing gears fast

Have checked to make sure that foot off accelerator when clutch pressed, but still happens.

Must be to do with way electronic mangement is set up, as clearly it is not the driver who is doing this.

Whether this is a fault or just the manufacturers 'norm' im not sure.

Certainly is is noticeable event, not seen in other cars I have driven

I haven't noticed a rev increase when changing gears, but have noticed it when braking (revs go up as much as 300-400rpm)

My previous Corolla 1.4 T3 used to do it and it drove me crazy. It appeared like I had my foot on the accelerator when the clutch was down. I went back to Toyota they said it was normal and they all did it. I drove another and it did it too, in the end I changed the car it irritated me so much.

All the VVTi's should do it, something to do with emissions AFAIK

Mine blips a little has i lift of the throttle and dip clutch by about 200 rpm. When braking the car tick over slows to around 1100 rpm then drops to 700ish when stopped.
