Mr2 Prices

I'm after another MR2 so I wanna find out about the prices of 'em.

I'm trying to get at least an L-plate+ Rev 3 model, T-bar, UK model

Lets say it has FSH and below average miles. Can anyone give me a quick break down of the average prices. Cos when I look on autotrader it varies alot

What sort of prices do you expect to pay??

Many thanks

Will

With the sun out the t-bars in demand if it's an NA 5k would be a good starting price although I've seen them go for a lot more, it's one of those things you need to be patient with as there are a lot of dogs out there (but an awful lot of lovely cars aswell)....

The UK car was only in NA form, can I ask why you want a UK car, there is no difference between the UK and Jap Car and minimal insurance differences....

I had an import MR2 and I loved it. Heres a Pic : Billy_CCheung_Cars_9.jpg

I hoped that worked

The only probs i find is the insurance atm. I've got a good quote off Elephant.co.uk for a UK car but they don't do insurance for imports. Tried tesco's and they wanted top dollar for a policy :o Over double.

Thats is the main reason.

The only dilema is choosing between Air con or Leather. I bought Half leather for the Import and they were  If money was no object then i'd go for the GT-S.

Can I ask which year that UK MR2's had Abs, airbags, Traction control etc. My J plate didn't have any of those and I would like them (obviously)

Thanks for the replies

Will

Okay what I meant to say is that the didn't do online quotes when i was looking. Maybe they do now and maybe they only deal with it over the phone.

Again, I have not found out by phoning them as i do not own one yet. Looking on the net for an online quote for comparison's is less hassle wouldn't you agree?

Anyhow, which had all the goodies :D

I thought the GT had all the goodies, as the GT-S was stripped down slightly for "racing"?

An import Mk2 is more loaded than the usual UK spec but weighs a bit more,

100RON mapped engine so its carries a bigger punch, electric folding mirrors (which I use everyday), aircon and climate control, high level brake light on the early Mk2's and also the rear bumper holds a square numberplate which suits the car better IMHO.

Regarding insurance.. I did find that few companies wouldnt touch me because it was an import but as I say to everyone.. you have to shop around.. there is always a deal for your car out there.. you just have to find it.

With an import you have limited service history and an HPI check will only cover the time its in the country.

I'm glad I got the import over the UK spec tho.. I started off wanting a UK car but I find the J-Spec more original with all the buttons and the rear looks very nice with the lights on and all that japanese text in tha cockpit... gets the ladies talking...lol.

Correct, GTS doesn't have leather seats for a start - not sure about the other differences but I would expect no air con etc. to cut down on weight

Had a look at them already and they take the mick as well.

Elephant quoted me an import and it was less than a UK model

So import it is, more variety and better spec

Aircon is much needed for 3 months of the year!!

i found that when using tesco online they were the best for every car i inputted (including the tubby i eventually bought) - and they did obviously cover imports (as tubby is).

i am with direct line (who i had my cavalier with) and swapped the car over for the remainder of the policy, (renewal due in 2 days). so direct line will cover the imports but the renewal has just come through and they want £170 more than dorset - so ive gone with dorset who as you know are mr2 specialists and give u the track day cover (and according the yesterdays letter off them - european breakdown cover as well for free it seems?!!!!)

plus dorset are £70 cheaper than tesco.

INSURE WITH DORSET PEOPLE - IT MAKES SENSE. :D

u have to be a member of the mr2 drivers club www.mr2dc.com, and pay a £30 yearly membership or £32 joint membership.

however if u arent a member when u get your proposal they send u a form to state either your mr2dc member number or ask for you to send a cheque for £30 or 32 and fill in some details. (i know this cos i got this very letter yesterday).

makes sense as u get sum nice discounts (like the goldmember ones here).

join both clubs and be a right toyota geek like me!
