Previa Air Con

Hi there. I have a bit of a nagging problem with my previa air con. And am looking for a wiring diagram. I have power to light the air con button on the dash, but no power on the supply wires to the clutch on the pump. I have checked both relays and the circuit breaker, and the fuse, all seem ok! Any ideas anyone or does somebody have access to the relevant wiring diagram.

Pleases help as its hot, hot, hot at the moment in the UK.

Thanks Rob..

:hokus-pokus:

Hello there, your air con problem could be simple.

If the system gas pressure falls to low there is a pressure switch that senses this and cuts the feed to compressor clutch.

So a simple evacuation and regas with the correct weight of gas is all that it probibly needs.

I own a garage and we do air con servicing, and 99% of air con failures is due to low gas.

Regards Colin

I have a 1992 Previa which also has non-functioning air-con. I bought it in March but haven't had the cash to get it fixed yet. Someone told me it probably needed re-gassing to fix it.

Does anyone know of a reasonable garage in the Leeds/Bradford/Halifax area which won't rip me off for fixing it?

Freon Leaking from Toyota vans with dual air is common. The pressure when below the sensor's limit cuts off the flow of electric to the air conditioner's compressor clutch. We have a hose for just the occasion and we buy our R-134 freon by the case at Sam's Club for about $24.00, 12 cans.

We own a 1995 Toyota Previa and it has a slow leak as did our other 3 Toyota Vans, a 1984 LE with cooler, a 1985 and a 1987. We like the dependability of Toyotas and would like to see this problem solved with dual air systems.

We also have tried the "Stop-Leak" refill with no luck. If we have the Previa next summer, I will plan on charging the freon and checking each fitting by spraying soapy water and looking for bubbles.

I have just been searching the net trying to find info for the exact same problem. Most of what I have found has been old posts like this one with no info. For the benefit of anyone else with this trouble the wiring system is simple. The fault in my case was the relays as the clutch will engage now despite no coolant pressure. the relays are on the passenger side centre console behind a panel near floor level. Three screws remove the panel and then the relays are hidden inside black rubber covers near the interior heater matrix pipes. Don't trust the haynes manual to guide you through checking them, use the diagram on the relay.
