Hello

Ive just joined the forum, so greetings!

Anyway, anyone else have problems with their alarm going off randomly for no reason at all? Also, this seems to affect the remote door locking too?

Cheers

Andy P :)

I had this problem once and eventually traced it to the rear tailgate not compressing the switch enough. The doors would not lock and the alarm went off sometime later. Quick adjustment of either the tailgate or the switch, I know not which solved it.

Hi Andy,

I am having the exact same problem at present.

Driving the neighbours mad.

If you press the lock button on your key 3 times the lights on the car should

remain on for 3 seconds.

The Internal motion detector sensor will now be disabled.

If the problem goes away then you know that this sensor needs adjusting.

It also may be caused by a fly or Moth inside the car.

If not then look at the door sensors.

I am at this stage now and still have not found the problem.

I am also considering changing the car Battery as I suspect this may be causing the problem.

Does anybody know how to disable the Alarm.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Things have got worse for me now. The car wont start. At first I thought it may be a bad earth on the starter motor as it was making a fast clicking noise when I turned the ignition. Now there is no electrical power at all. So, Ive whipped the Battery off and it does seem to be low on charge. Hopefully charging the Battery will solve the problem! Im thinking a low charge may have effected the alarm and doors etc??? However, the charge seemed to die rather quick. Im no mechanic - Is that possible?

Kevin - Im not sure how to disable the alarm. If I find my owners manual (it may be in there) I will let you know!

The tvss system in the toyota can only be disabled for and hour or in test mode you can switch on or off different modes.

Down to your starting problems if yours is the D4D model there is an issue with the starter motors which are being replaced under warrenty. If not D4D there my be a problem with the alarm sounder drawing current from the Battery ie= 1.0 to 1.5 amps of current draw
