Hi Guys,

I recently bought a 53 plate 2.0 D4D Diesel Avensis and it is coming up for its 40k service but don't know exactly what I need to change - can anyone advise?

What Oil should I buy and how much is this going to be? I have heard stealers charge arm and a leg os it best to DIY?

Will I need to change the filter/gasket etc?

How much should this all set me back?

Thanks in advance

I would suggest the stealers do the job for now, if you want to keep the full dealer service history records up-to-date.

DIY, well... best to check your manual which should tell you what stuff you need, otherwise go to a good motor spares shop and they should tell you.

Hope tis helps.

At only 40,000 and 3 years old probably wants a brake fluid change, very cheap if you DIY and an oil/filter change cheap if you DIY again, use a quality 15/40 diesel oil. The filter is the priciest bit, about £20, but an oil/filter change at Toyota will set you back about £120 anyway. Check your front pads are ok, again if they need doing, mega cheap if you DIY, about £30. But if you're in warranty and worried about that, pay a visit to your dealer although it may be painful.
