Rac Inspection Sheet? On Approved Used

Those who bought their car from a UK Toyota main dealer,

did you get a copy of the RAC inspection sheet which showed you which items were checked?

and was it checked independently by the RAC or by the Toyota garage under the RAC guidelines?

I didn't get one, but I assume you would (I've asked the dealer but they haven't given me one yet)

We've bought several used Toyotas from various Toyota dealers and have never been given a sheet. I would expect its just one of the mechanics who had an hours training at an RAC center who goes round and checks a few things on the car before signing a form to say its worthy of a warranty etc.

ah, thanks. With Mercedes and their multi-point check you get the sheet showing what was checked, so was expecting it with Toyota as well.

I was also anxious as to what the RAC checks involved as when I test drove my car I found a. the steering column rattled and b. the bonnet release catch was inoperative (bonnet couldn't open).

Hope that should help you out :)

Wow... you've gone beyond the call of duty to type that lot out.

Your time in doing so is very much appreciated

The other check that is suspicious is the 'Internal panels, fit and condition' check.

I had to point out to the dealer that the electric window switch surround was sitting proud, and was parting company with the door. In fairness the dealer did attend to the points I highlighted.

Although the car does have a warranty, my main gripe is if the car is not inspected any underlying problem might not be discovered until after the warranty expires (unless you throughly inspect the car yourself).
