Hello all,

Stupid question but now I've bought an Avensis I've started seeing loads of them for sale. There seems to be 2 different rear light cluster arrangements but I can't for the life of me work out why? Doesn't seem to be year of manufacter, or spec. Any ideas?

The rear light cluster was changed slightly when the facelift model with the vvti engine (i.e the one you have) was introduced in about 2000. The most noticeable difference I think is the yellow indicator light which is bigger on the facelifted model and is the whole width of the cluster if I recall correctly.

Its not as subtle as that!

The ones I've got are what I call the 'normal roundish clusters' as on most of the models I see. But some have got narrower, longer clusters, sort of bmw 3 series style. Its not just a one-off mod car coz I've seen quite a few.

There is a difference between saloon and Hatch clusters, my hatch has 3 interlinked circles for indicator sidelight and fog/reverse light.
