Landcruiser Gs Power

We've recently bought a 95 LandCruiser GS LWB, nice car for the money & great to drive, but the power seems a long way up the rev range for a big 6cylinder, it doesn't really start to pull like I'd expect until after 2k rpm when the turbo starts spinning up. Not having anything to do with these in the past, is this normal, or is it possible that someone has wound the pump down to get it through an MOT at some point & is suffering from fuel starvation low down? Any ideas greatful!!

Its been a while since I drove one but they do need a kick in the guts to get them going.

The trick with turbo diesels is to keep them in their powerband as your changing gears.

Try that if your not happy have it put on a dyno and have the HP checked.

The fuel screw on the pump should have a seal put on by reputable technicians, see if its been tampered with

Also check the air filter if you a havent already done so
