Outboard Cv Joint

When turning full(ish) Left hand lock and driving in first at about 10mph there is a noise coming from my Off-side front wheel.

It's a rotational related almost grinding sound. It's definately not the brake disc guards catching on the disc. With the wheels set forward there is no in/out play on the wheel so I'm discounting wheel bearings. There isn't any noise at all when driven in a straight line.

My guess is that it's the outboard CV joint. Can anyone confirm this? What other checked can you recommend to confirm this diagnosis?

If it is I intend to fit one of these. Has anyone done this repair before and can they comment on any likely problems?

Many thanks

Alternatively I may just fit a full off-side drive shaft from a dismantler.
