Has Diesel Head Gasket Been Improved

I've had a recent failure of the head gasket on my 2002 Yaris diesel. I have noticed that the new model diesel engine is a different power output etc. Does anyone know if Toyota have changed the head gasket design to eliminate what seems to be a problem with the older model.

One would assume so. It would seem mighty strange for them to continue with a design they knew was prone to failure...

Took the power box off mine yesterday for the MOT ... it felt like it needed pedals fitting, Anthill Mob Stylee :D

Tell me about it - mine was in for its 40k service on Saturday there. Pulled into B&Q to take the 'box off then almost stalled it pulling out of the car park to take it to Mr T!
