A "confession"

Hi All,

Well this morning myself and Yves visited a Toyota dealer whilst the Blue was in for it's 20,000 mile service.

So, wandering around the showroom whilst Yves drove an MR2 Roadster with the sales woman, I decided to have a look at a Carlo Blue new Yaris. I also spotted the salesman who sold me the Yaris Blue and I said to him "I want to test drive one of these in a 1.3". So, that's what we did. He actually remembered me from my Yaris T3 that I part-ex'ed, so much so that he said about the dent in the door! Took it around some general town roads, down a bumpy Country-like Road and up the Dual carriageway and I'm impressed. Never thought I would hear myself say that! Feels more solid/well built, bit more of a punchy engine and less road noise. We couldnt go far as it was flashing the last bar of petrol, the manager had left his fuel card at home and the other one was AWOL apparently! So he done all the usual speal as salesman do and for a brand new T3 1.3 - another pre-reg though would be a £500 deposit and an extra tenner on the finance payment a month! It would be a 3 door in Vivid Blue....

Sadly, thinking about it logically there is nothing really wrong with the Yaris I have got. Although it did cost me £95 for a £20,000 service today and it does have a slight oil leak on the sump or main bearing in the engine according to what the specialist said today along with an ongoing squeak from a wheel which is loud and annoying...but then a Yaris isnt a Yaris if it isnt squeaky or rattling! However, I was/am tempted by it and take back all the comments I've said about them being ugly as they actually are a very nice car.

Test drive an Aygo and get back to us ;)

I do like the Aygo, but it would be a bit too small for my needs size wise...wouldnt go back to a 1.0 engine, would have to be 1.3 or the 1.4 in the Aygo's case.

Never mind the new Yaris.. How did Yves get on.. and is he still smiling?

Oh!.. and £95 for a £20,000 service sounds like bargain of the century :lol:

Was the new Auris there (old Corolla)?

I want to know if there is much of a difference size wise compaired to the new yaris

My friendly Mr T salesman is already trying to flog me an Auris... I pointed out to him that unlike my father it takes more than 10 minutes of cajoling before I can fork out for a motor.

I've liked the new Yaris for a while (little sis has one, remember) and am tempted "next time around".

Told you they were nice T  Much more solid drive, felt less "squeeky". Like Al I've been fond of them since day 1....

I would have bought one already, but if I hung around waiting for Toyota to release what I want I'll be dead and buried by the time it goes on sale!:lol:

£95 for a 20,000 service? I havent even booked mine yet - where's your dealer, I want that price!!

I thought that you liked them when we sat in one at Toyota HQ.

I think they are a great car...............Toyota have listened to their customers and made several very worthwhile improvements on what IMO was already a good car.

The new Yaris does feel a lot more well built and altogether a much better car.................................Go on Tina ...............you know you want to ;)

For someone who hated them i have to admit they are growing on me! This only happened since i saw this photo (borrowed from arty farty section!)

yarisviewscopy.jpg

In particular the side on view :D Looks like a corolla to me! (admitedly on stilts) Looks much better with spoiler! (same with the old yaris) Tbh i still dislike it from some views and having been in one at Toyota i felt the inside was too plasticy (just bigger blocks of plastic to try to emulate some form of sturdyness?) To me Jap cars are about bit more pokey engines that last for ever with a nice simple interior (which is usually plasticy) :P It seems they tried to make it more german build quality but still in japanese style which doesnt work for me! Also the rear seats look very comfy and have very deep cushions but just seems to be slowing down what should be a nippy town car for me!

He liked it very much, it was one of the last 300 to be made? He said he was on a dual carriageway and put it into 2nd gear from 6th at 70 mph which the saleswoman wasnt too impressed with .

Nope, the only hint of it we saw was as a screensaver on their pc's & it's the exact same photo's Toyota have on their website anyway...

Haha, it wasnt a dealer - it was a Toyota & Lexus specialist called Westfield Motors in Rayleigh, they were mentioned on a post in general a while back and I thought I'd take the plunge and go with them instead as the two local dealers wanted £269! I just don't have that cash spare and most of it is labour anyway I think...the only thing I am not too impressed with from Westfield is there is a rattle/vibration in the engine which is incredibly annoying & was there before but has now become a lot more noticeable. I know I should take it back, but it's a 20 minute drive away. It only cost £95 which is a massive saving.

I thought that you liked them when we sat in one at Toyota HQ.

I would've loved to Steve, but unfortunately we suffer with attacks of idiots scratching random cars down here...a neighbour further down the block had hers done at the same time the Blue was scratched & the T-Sport also got done ages ago too, but thankfully it's not a long scratch at all, just deep. I'm gonna continue to save money each month and then as time goes on I'll have more dosh together to buy a bigger car which is what me and Yves will eventually do I'm sure.

Although I do keep thinking that I could've had myself a new big birthday present seeing as I'm another year older today..but it wasnt to be :(

Shut it, Vauxhall boy! :P

The dealers get their intro drives in the Auris in mid-Jan they tell me but I'll try one as soon as the demo is in my dealer's.

Jealousy will get you nowhere....

Is that Auris an off-roader? Just looks comical at that height. I bet even I could lie in the road, and the car drive over me, and it still wouldn't touch my belly! :D

Al's on the other hand....
