Ts Tyre Dilema

Hi Everyone

A QUESTION TO THE TYRE GURUS ON HERE

I have a tyre dilema (yes i know you have seen it before0

I run a Phase 1 2001 TS all original. From new i always ran YOKOHAMA AO43 Tyres 185 55 15 v, the handling was fantastic be it a little twitchy in the rain!!

I now need to replace all 4 so do i:-

1. Replace all 4 with Yokos again, same size.

2. Change for Toyo 195 55 15v T1-R

3. Change for Eagle F1 GSD3s 195 55 15v

People say that the old SR runs 195`s but im not sure. Is this true

I am not really bothered about price, i just want grip grip grip.

get 195/50`s not 55`s. the extra width makes up the tyre wall height

Now im down to performance

195/50/R15V

Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD3

or

Toyo Proxes T1-R

Im swayed to the proxes

proxes are cheaper, but goodyear are better.

I doubt you'd notice much difference on the yaris.

i`d be more inclined towards the goodyears because they`re better in the wet than the proxes

Get the Goodys. I've had them for 2-3 weeks now and their !Removed! amazing. Puts a grin on your face every time you drive. Just make sure the tyre pressuers are around 30-33. When I got them fitted they were around 35 and it was way to high. Grip is truly amazing. Driving in the wet is amazing, it's like driving in the dry

I wanted the Toyos, but my brother has a Prodrive Impreza and has tried both and the Eagle just edges it.

And they look amazing, you get loads of people looking at them

Now I know why the SR always looks a ‘little’ different and a bit more sporty

It’s the tyres!

Every time a have seen a SR I’ve always thought it looked a little different and couldn’t put my finger on it, now you have mentioned that they have 195/50 that’s what it is.

The car sits ever so slightly lower and from behind there is slightly wider tyre profile which will always look good.

Wonder why this size tyre isn’t put on the T Sport?

I’ll be having 195/50 on my car when the time comes.

The SR has 6" wide wheels and a 185 width tyre would look daft on a wheel that wide.

The T-Sport on the otherhand only has 5.5" wide wheels and therefore the 185 width tyres look sensible on them.

Went for the Proxes and the bl...y grip is amazing, well recommended.

Does anyone know what pressures they are putting in them. Got 30/30 at the moment but im sure that has changed and the handbook wont tell me now

I wanted to buy Proxes T1-R but they are out of stock now :censor: :crybaby:

Now I'm considering Eagle F1 GSD3s or Yokohama AVS Sport V102. I've read many good and bad opinions on Eagle F1 but only a few on AVS (mostly good ones.) Anyone can recommend those Yokohamas?

I've got Goodyear Eagle F1's in the standard siza and they are awesome. They are faultless in the rain and in the wet. To be honest i've only had Dunlop SP9000 before the F1's but I totally recommend the F1's My friend had the F1's in 195's when he had his T-Sport and he said there was an improvement.

Need some front tyres myself now. Think I am going to go for the Goodyears in 195/50 size. Can I just ask how much people had been quoted for these? My local independant tyre place has quoted me £51.70 each. They are about £2 cheaper on etyres - anyone used etyres?

Cheers,

Laura

Go to www.mytyres.co.uk, £36.10 delivered each for the goodyear F1's! then get fitted at a local place for £10 a corner or less!

Went into toyota today, they said £75 for fitted proxes, but I asked about eagle f1's, and he said £65, but when I looked on the screen I don't think they were F1's maybe just Eagle. I'd rather have F1's, so I may phone around a bit over easter and get what I can. I want better grip in the wet, my Avons just spin.

Just how bad are the proxes and F1's in the snow? Which is worse? I've heard very bad things...
