A Noise From The Engine

Here I am, asking questions again. :D

This is going to be a difficult one, as describing noise is difficult. But I heard a noise from the engine, and I'm curious to what it could be. Trouble is, all sounds are frightening/unusual to me as I've transferred between very different cars.

But anyway, I just started the engine and was sitting there listening to it. And it's a rythmic sound... maybe a couple of times a second or something (on/off/on/off like a heart). Imagine a very light squealching sound... like it's I dunno... a sponge. That's an awful description! Mostly unobtrusive, but noticable. But it's it's in a rythym.

Hell, I could go maybe record the engine sound. :D

But out of interest... are there any Celica owners in or around the Hemel/Watford area. It'd be really nice to meet up with another Celica owner at some point... but also someone in the know can just check it out, let me know of any potential problems that might seem apparant to a Celica owner but not to a novice/newbie. As I have no point of reference, it's somewhat difficult. I would buy alcohol as reward. :D Bribery always helps.

I was just listening some more. It's coming from the main engine bit where it says... well whatever the writing says, I've fogotten... twin cam and stuff. Geeze I'm so technical. :D

It's not squealclhy so much though, like I described it. But it is rythmic like a pumping sound.

Does this make any more sense?
