Hay ya guys

lol i kinda made a post on this already but its in the celica fourm by mistake...

Enyhow i was wondering if enyone esle had problems geting new studs for after market alloy wheels, the problem im geting is the spline, it seems that everyone i try gives me the right diamiter spine but the wong No. of spines ie. if standerd has 30 of the liitle lines (spines) the ones im geting are 40...

If enyone knows where a good place to get these are that would be grate ^^

Also alloy wheels for the GT4 i want 18" 225 lol is this almost imposable to get coz iv looked for weeks and can only find 1 set that costs 1300 and looks kinda crap...

There was a guy on eBay who sold extended wheel studs but I never bought any so maybe you've already tried him. I could do with some replacement ones myself.

Is your GT4 a 185 or a 205?

I have a 235/40/17 on an 8 1/5 rim on both front and back of my 185 wide body, you might struggle to get 18's on of the size you mentioned unless you go much much lower than a 40 profile. (thats if its the same model as mine). The fronts run right up to the edge of the arch and catch on the inner arch liner on full lock at low speed in reverse only.lolbut the rears are well within the arches almost 1" to spare but only clear the struts by about 6mm on the inside, so check your offset on whatever wheels you buy.

Not wanting to state the obvious but don't do as I've seen some people do, and that is put wider tyres on the back. It's a 4x4 you'll end up with a huge bill for replacing alsorts of drivetrain parts. Meanwhile if you want 18's then I'd have thought anything less than a grand wasn't worth having. I paid £1500 9 years ago for a set of AZEV "A"'s including tyres.

i have 18" wheels on my 205 with 225/40 tyres and they fit fine with no rubbing, they are made by wheel mania but i also paid about £1200 5 years ago.

I did try fen sport when i was trying to get hold of the bolts, thay pointed me towards Demon Tweeks direct, but i needed the bolts fast before i drove to france, and the closest place thay said thay had them was north wales....

The company i got the bolts from (Graystone Engineering) i belive suply Demon tweeks lol so i very hezadant about ordering form them, incase thay send the wrong ones. Infact all 3 sets of bolts i got that were sent wrong came from (Graystone Engineering) so thay must be a mager suplyer in the UK.

The alloy wheels i got arnt new thay came on the car, but yes it dose have 5mm spacers (dam those masive brakes! but i love em still  ) i worked out i have 3 threads into the nuts. What i done tho was a bit of home bogery to make the ones thay gave me fit, i grinded 50% of the thinkness of the spline down, then used a block of alloy with a hole drilled in it, put that over the bolt (on the alloy wheel side to make up the with of a wheel) then used the nuts to pull the new bolts into the back of the Hub. This worked pritty well and seems pritty sterdy, that said its a boge and i kinda want it done right.

Those are nice wheels, thats sorta thing im looking for nothing to fancey less is more i think ^^

See if the wheels were made for the car ie. the corect of set i dont think i need extended bolts, but im not 100% on that, maybe i should keep the boged bolts till i get some new wheels and see how the new ones fit.

£2.50+ vat seem's kinda expenive considering the uther bolts i got only cost £1.50 inc vat, granted thay were wrong ones but £1.25 or what ever the extra is seems alot for a diferant spine.

Ill give them a ring enyway coz its anuther option if i cant get these uther places to help me, im a bit hesadant of just ordering as that web sight dosent specifly the spine only its over all size wich is where i came a cropper last time.

hi all, try

rochford tyres - specialists

they are very helpfull, and have some very useful technical guys. the website is quite good, but if you phone them, they can sort out most things for you.

i am fairly sure that the wheel nuts you need are a 1.5 pitch thread. i am having grief with mine at the mo. wrong nuts for the wheels and the wheels have no rings to locate central on the central spigot of the hub.

hope this helps...

in reply to to your problem wid the alloy wheels

all 18 inch rims will for 225 tyres you can fit as small as 205 to as big as 235 bead will just stretch if you fit small tyres so dats why sometimes you see the tyre wall on angle tread not inline with the rim face
