1997 Avalon Abs Trac/off Light On

I have a 97 toyota avalon the abs trac off "dummy" light has gone on and off for some time. car has 69,800miles on it, I have been told this may be a bad sensor and that there may be more then one of these, has anyone had experience with this problem? I avoid the dealer repair dept when I can, I was told 180 to diagnose and as muchas 100$ per sensor and only process of elimanation can route out which one (sensor) is bad. Any help is appreciated, eric in kc
