Virgin Media Digi-box Refresh Rate

Does anyone know what the refresh rate is on the Samsung Virgin Media (Standard digital - none of this High-Def malarkie!) box?

I have recently got myself a nice Onkyo surround sound amp, and am wanting to do Video switching through it via Composite. I learnt with my X-Box 360 that it doesn't like processing 60Hz, and it makes the picture colours very rubbish. I have a similar rubbish picture through the Virgin Media box, but am unsure on any of the stats on the VM-box, so don't know:

if its because of the refresh rate.

if its the fact that I am using a naff SCART to Composite / S-Video converter.

if the VM-Box doesn't output composite in favour of RGB only, which a SCART cable will do quite happily (don't have RGB cables to test this, and don't want to spend lots of money without knowing its gonna work!).

if I have missed something else thats very very obvious once you know.

Going straight to the tele via SCART, the VM box is fine, going to the tele via the Amp over Composite or S-Video, things go pear shaped.

Help?

most likely gonna be 50Hz as it is PAL

with CV you will get some fuzzyness, its better to use RGBs (scart)

This is more than just fuzziness! The picture itself is quite sharp, but the colours are washed out, flicking to full grey-scale, then slowly bringing in different colours till its a full (but washed out) colour range again. This happens a few times a minute, so is understandably quite annoying!!

oh right, seen that on a yacht which was wired up in a complex way

best thing to do is check all wiring with a meter or replace the cables
