Power Steering Problem On T3-x

Hi,

I have just recently bought an Avensis T3-X 03 model and the power steering is not working properly.

The P/S light is always on. Can anyone tell me what the problem may be?

I have disconnected the Battery to see if that might solve the problem but no luck.

I've checked the fuse and it appears to be ok.

Please help!!!!!

I bought the 2003 model of TS-3 (from Car Giant) and few months later received a text message from local TOYOTA garage advising me that they are calling in all 2003 models to replace the steering column.

This was done free of charge. I am not sure if this may have something to do with your problem. Has Toyota offered to replace the steering column? If not take it in and they will be able to tell you if the car is part of the batch that needed column replacement.

Normally they can plug in a computer into the ECU socket to diagnose the fault on dashboard. If the problem is with ECU then it could be costly.

Check out the following link for the steering safety recall VOSA Avensis recall. Some models have electro/hydraulic steering some perhaps there's a problem with the steering electric motor. Either way you need to get it checked as soon as possible.
