What Is The Floor Protective Lining Called?

Hi

I too have a water leak in the boot and want to sand and repaint the spare tyre well while I'm at it. Now, I want to buy some of those protective strips used on the spare tyre well and other parts of the floor, but I have no idea what it's called. It seems to be a flexible, rubbery material that hardens to form a solid, non-flexible material.

I stole these two pictures of the Internet, with the mystery material indicated by a red circle:

Please can anyone help me?

In our country it's called BITUMEN. I think in UK is the same.

You need to find a supplier of paint and body materials for the garage trade, what you are looking for are 'sound deadening pads'.They are used on the inside of door panels, floor panels, rear quarter panels etc. to stop drumming noises. They come with an adhesive back with a peel off sheet. Simply cut to shape, peel off the backing sheet and stick into position. Alternatively, go along to your local, friendly body shop and ask them to sell you what you need.

Hope this is of assistance to you.

P.S. they are best used in a warm environment as they get stiffer when cold and go fairly brittle when very cold.
