Faulty Fuel Gauge?

Got a full tank of fuel from the main dealer when I collected the car last Friday, and since then I have driven about 120km. However, the fuel gauge is still showing full, none of the bars have gone. Does this sound OK? I would have thought the top bar would have disappeared by now.

Electronic fuel gauges are always inaccurate, don't worry about it.

There is a thread about the 'first blob' on here somewhere.

Sound perfectly ok, mine disappear on average as follows:-

to 5 blobs @ 110-120miles

to 4 blobs @ 180 - 190miles

to 3 blobs @ 250 - 270miles

to 2 blobs @ 340 - 350miles

to 1 blobs @ 420miles (only been to 1 blob once, filled up at 440 and had 5litres left so could of gone 40 more miles but I wouldn't risk it)

From the top, the first blob will take the longest to go out because whereas blobs 2-6 measure fuel consumption within the tank, the first blob is also taking into effect any extra fuel in the filler pipes as well...

Exactly my situation, 150 odd miles before 1 blob went out...was convinced it was broken til I filled it up...12.5 litres...53mpg......amazed after my 16mpg landrover

its not broken.....just economical

First bar went out this morning, so this seems to tally with what you guys are saying. Much better fuel economy that my 1990 BMW 318iS!!
