Sport Corolla 03 Plate Keys

Hi there.

I know, i have just joined and I am asking a lot of questions. But just need a little help.

I recently got my corolla sport, but with only one key. the key i have is a 2 button responder type. Toyota will do it for £105 for another key programmed and fitted. Just wondered if I could do this though.

1) Buy a key blank off of eBay, (i actually heard the transponder is just to unlock the car, it serves no immobiliser function).

2) Buy a key with a transponder, (like this)

3) Then get the key cut to match my original.

4) Do the transponders like this website says.

Does anyone know if this works? Or do i have to take it to a toyota dealer. Thanks in advance.

If you don't have the transponder chip in your key and coded to your car then you won't be driving anywhere.

The ECU looks for the chip, no chip, no starting the engine!

Who is your Toyota Dealership? A lot of dealers are charging well over £200 to program a new key.

So the car is immobolised, and only deimmobolises to the transponder?

Inchcape Derby did a new key, coded, for around £80 for a me a little while back.

So will this just work soley for the door unlock functions?

Dont know how helpful this is for anyon else?
