Tom Tom Installation On Pc

Hi all, anyone had trouble installing tom tom home onto pc. disk runs & sets up ok. then connect usb to pc & tom tom unit & switch on. says found the driver hardware but if i click eg: music or photos in left column it comes up saying in the tom tom photo on the pc programme no tom tom unit / usb device connected. any ideas thanks seg
