4e-fe Valve Clearance Adjustment

Hello,

Had a look at Haynes, and see the tool required to get the shims out (if required) without removing camshaft. A couple of specific queries for anyone who has done this:

1. Is the tool expensive/easy to come by?

2. Has anyone measured their own clearances on a 4e-fe before-have they had to be adjusted much? As far as I can gather, the clearances were looked at with the last timing belt change, which was fewer than 20,000 miles but five years ago. The timing belt will be replaced, but I'm speculating the clearances will be fine.
