1 Kz Te Engine Idle Noisey/harsh

Hi, I have 1997 tx prado 87,000 kms goes great economy uses no oil etc.But engine seems to be harsh and noisey on idle and just above.Diesel noise really. Does anyone know please is this the way they are. I notice later models refer to sound absorbing materials under dash to reduce what I refer to? :( regards Paul NZ.
