Pulse / Tachometer Wire, 98 Rolla 1.3 4e-fe

Hi All

Can anyone tell me where to find the wire for the tacho in a 98 1.3. I'm trying to fit an aftermarket tacho as the base model doesn't have one as standard. I've got a Haynes, but looking at the diagrams is not getting me anywhere, I've used motorcycle wiring diagrams before with little problem, but these..... :o .I have searched the site (and the net) for hours (days!) looking for info on this, and found almost nothing.

Please help.

PS hope I,m not posting this in the wrong place.

Cheers

IIRC you can tap off from the IG- pin on the diagnostic port under the bonnet for a tacho take-off.

well i had same prob i bought aftermarket tachometer but all i was told was you wire it to the distributer and its tricky to do. i no nothing about that i couldnt get any one to do it. i ended up just getting standard clocks with a rev gauge standard fit straight in and didnt cost much as got them from scrap yard. look nice and tidy too..

@smifo: I have to agree with corollavan here, all corolla's use nearly the same interior loom's, so revguage clocks off a higher-specced model fit straight in, ond work straight away...

all you do is get revguage clocks off the likes of a 1.6 or even g6/g6r, swap them over with your own clocks, plug in the connectors (should be exact same connectors) and they'll work for ya bud :D:D

Hi Steelballz

What happens about your recorded mileage when you change your speedo? When you go for your next MOT or come to sell?

Smifo ;)

Hi All

Finally did it. After six months or so! Ran a wire from the IG in the diagnostics socket, as advised.

Ta again for your replies.

Smifo :D
