Heater Problems

Hi everyone I know this is an old problem but here goes

Symptoms: Heater will only blow luke warm.

seems to be alot of pressure in the system causing it to blow water from the header tank.

Heater matrix is good as I have flushed the system through from the rad to get all the s**t out

Radiator was replaced prior to purchase.

checked thermostat and it seems to be opening ok.

have removed it to see if there is a drop in the pressure.

heater pipes are quite warm but heater still cold.

no oil in water or water in oil so head ok.

any ideas???????

Head gasket has gone, it's pressurising the system and stopping water circulating properly.

Took the thermostat out to see if it would still push the water out.

car idles a bit faster but no water problems, although it never gets up to temperature.

replacing thermostat today.

watch this space.

p.s

anyone got any seats for a 91 celica?

or centre caps for the original wheels

Presumed you have checked the water pump is working by holding inlet and outlet pipes one should be cold the other hot. If they are the same, water pump is dead. If the outlet is just aired, water pump is probably "dying"

changed the thermostat and put some decent antifreeze in and all seems ok

reduced pressure and not losing water.

fingers crossed :D
