Two separate issues.

Swap the clock and it'll still read correct, but be limited.

Use an HKS speed limit defencer to de-limit the car (or an Apexi RSM/Neo if you want a few dials).

There are loads of threads on this, have a search.

yeah changed clocks complete unit, digital as i said 95,

for irish ones, also changed speed sensor on the gear box,

as well as changing the pulse sensor on the top of it, but the car still

runs in kph both the odometer and speed, i.e. 100 mph on the

clock is actually 100 kph, 40 mph is 40 kph etc. etc.

You didn't say that ;)

If you have changed the pulse sensor for a converted one, your car is currently delimited.

Take the delimiter out the g'box - it's not a proper de-limiter. It's a convertor (it divides the pulses by 1.6 - so in effect the 180kmph limit is now a 180mph limit). You don't want that.

Take the delimiter out, and fit an Apexi RSM or an HKS SLD into the ECU loom.

is an apexi rsm or hks sld costly to have installed?

what do the uk owners do when they import jap mr2's

as they have to convert to mph for the sva and mot?

You can DIY both, the Apexi is about an hour if taking your time. The HKS is about 5mins.

UK owners either do what you've done with the convertor (and stick a piece of tape over the K in kmph on the dash or even colour it in with a felt tip), OR change the speedo

Your issue is you've done both.

as the car is currently delimited i would be happy enough with that

just thought that with the change of pulse sensor the clocks would read mph...

  • 1 year later...

I've just purchased a G-Limited '91 Rev1.

Having done some searching I've discovered that I can fit a manual convertor to the output of the gearbox to convert the current KPH clocks to MPH but it doesn't address the issue of the limiter.

Is there a fix which will get round the top speed limit on the auto gearbox ??

Thanks
