tyres on the same axle have to be the same size NOT the same make. The spare wheel is not part of the mot test, the carrier is if the wheel is mounted outside the vehicle. If you have a tow bar fitted that is now part of the mot test

Not quite sure what you meant - mine is mounted on the outside back door - 4.2 3 door, so does that mean I have to have one on there?

Thanks

its ok with the RAV because its enclosed with a cover, so its not part of the test. testers are NOT allowed to remove anything from the vehicle to check it. Only if the spare is housed under the vehicle in a cage and is visible without removing covers

The test does not allow even removal of wheel covers to make sure the correct amount of wheel nuts are fitted, the rule is if you cannot see it you must assume its ok, Ive been a tester now for 31 years. THE SPARE WHEEL IS NOT A TESTABLE ITEM. Hope this helps you
