Why does my radiator fan come on

It's completely normal for the radiator fan to cycle on and off when idling - there is a sensor that reads the temperature of the coolant at all times and if the coolant gets hotter than a set level the car switches the fan on until the temperature of the coolant goes below the threshold, after which the fan is turned off. There is no need for the fan to run at all times unless it is specifically needed, such as when crawling in traffic on a hot day, but on an open road at usual driving speeds the airflow through the grille at the front of the car is enough to keep the coolant cool enough and the fan is not used. As others have said, if the car is fitted with Aircon and this is switched on (provided the a/c still actually works that is) the radiator fan will run most of the time, regardless of the temperature of the engine coolant. This is because on models with a/c there are two radiators, one behind the other at the front of the car, the coolant radiator which is the larger one closer to the engine, and the a/c condenser radiator located in front of the coolant radiator, towards the grille side of the car. The a/c must have the condenser being cooled at all times when it is running, so the cooling fan runs all the time, until the a/c is turned off again (provided the a/c is still functional)

Very confusing as I’ve been recommended to download the black app on here and by Toyota UK 🤷‍♂️

    HEV to EV?

EV - No HEV - Yes Way too many negatives with an EV, primarily cost/depreciation, real world range, lack of charging infrastructure, range anxiety, media hype over so called green cars and the government clamour to change to them (we heard this over a decade ago with diesel cars) and now we are being subject to the anti-ICE propaganda on almost a daily basis. If you can charge at home and only drive short local journeys, maybe the argument will sway towards an EV, but the ridiculous purchase cost and potential battery replacement cost far outweighs the cost of an ICE/HEV option. Buy what you need for your budget and lifestyle and don’t be afraid to say no because they aren’t for everyone, despite what the pro-EV marketing says 🤷‍♂️

    New Landcruiser……

This guy is a ******* - should just stick to reviewing cars instead of the nonsense he spouts 🤦‍♂️

    New Landcruiser……

It seems expensive but then everything has doubled over the last decade or so. An Aygo used to start at around £8k now it's £16, Yaris £11k now £22k, Corolla about £15k now £30k. With those prices, 75k is proportionate. And I can't quite place where this Land Cruiser sits relative to the old. It's the light duty version, but it's almost on par in size with the old Amazon. For that size LC, £75k is not bad in today's money.

2005 Avensis left turn signal lights stay on.

Yes, the indicator light on the dashboard stays on solid, so I have ordered an indicator switch. I'll let you know if it solves the problem.
  11. I have a 2023 Yaris Hybrid and it has the roadsign "detection" system. It used to display the speed limit on the little screen behind the steering wheel and it would go "red" if I exceeded that speed (30 say). However, I seem to have mucked it up somehow as now when it is showing 30 it goes "red" at about 20mph !!! I was browsing the menus so it's probably finger trouble on my part. What have I done wrong and how do I clear it ??? (could I have set a maximum somehow). TIA Dave

Why does my radiator fan come on

If the dash lights,ie no temp gauge, are the same as the earlier Yaris it's just a blue thermometer symbol for when cold, and a red one if too hot. No light on if normal operating temperature.

    HEV to EV?

I suppose the question now is that Toyota HEV is acknowledged (in the forum) as the best CVT, how do we rate the BZ4X?

    HEV to EV?

We have decided that good as the BZ4X is as a car (in the showroom) we don't want to pay a 50% premium (or more) when we find our YC meets our needs and look forward to the updated model. What, in a way, disappoints is the limited offering from Toyota with just 2 PHEV and one EV almost dipping their toe in the water.

Interested to know if this works as I’ve read the black app is the right one for bz4x. I’m at the end of my tether!

Noise underneath car after Catloc impact

Sure enough, it was the exhaust making contact with the Catloc, which had been pushed out by the impact (I'll be contacting the council about that bit of road). A trip to the garage and £39 quid later (half an hour's labour - not that it took that long) and it's sorted.

Was the car's MPG affected by the wider tyres Abdul? Also, is the speedometer still reading accurately ?

    C-HR vs Yaris Cross

Can probably understand the not doing a lot on the YC, at 116ps for a car that size is unpowered. I have the hatchback, it's good for handling and enough power. I'm not voting, though the 2.0 chr would probably get my vote 🫠

    MK3 wiper blade removal

That assumes that: a) you know it's just stuck and not a mechanical latch that needs releasing, b) you are happy to squirt WD40 or the like near your windscreen. For a, I didn't know (the one I removed was apparently a friction/spring clip and the replacement has a positive latch) and for b, I wouldn't be happy doing that (though I might try a very small drop of oil on the likely places).
  22. Flash 22 My timing is similar to your instructions And I have understood so far by comparing 30 videos of this procedure That there are two types of crankshaft - timing sprocket and the main instruction book has two versions withouth mentioning a difference for the 1kr fe After rotating chain a whole 5 rounds of 360° the 3 markings align as mentioned to ur guide Yes I did put back the key to the timing sprocket Then I haven't replaced the timing sprocket I will definitely look up for the 2 types Tsikis007 If I have understood correctly the crankshaft gear is assembled by heating up by the factory producing the crankshaft as I wanted to purchase one as a backup before removing it and it comes already as a one piece with the crankshaft I will post tomorrow as I have reassembled again today and waiting for gasket sealant to dry Also additionally I found the oil control filter very dirty and almost blocked Will try to start engine without it
  23. Finally updated Techstream Thought I would post some screenshots Illumination Windows - windows up or down via the fob or key, Auto up/down on all windows can be controlled Warnings Other lots of other stuff, nothing of any interest, no options for RSA, BSM or AVAS, but you can disable LTA and RCTA all devices/modules under TS
