Why when Travelling at 60kph downhill and I break does my rev counter go mad and shows between 3-4000 revs.

I find this very disturbing although my Toyota dealer sais this is modern technology and normal I don't understand?

Can anyone explain this in layman terms?

Thank you

Hello Brian - welcome to Toyota Owners Club. Which Auris do you have - manual or MMT/CVT; petrol, diesel or hybrid?

Knock the lever into +/- mode at the top of the hill and it won't use engine braking to slow you down........

Many thanks, great advice. It's my first automatic.

Will also be educating my Toyota dealer who really should have known!

Just shows what can happen when you live half way up a mountain.
