The Jan 2015 edition of Car mechanics has a 5 page article on the Corolla 1.6 engine management system and sensors etc etc.

Probably the most interesting point was not electronics, but mechanical, where the Experts said for the VVTI to work properly, 5w30 fully synth oil must be used and kept to the correct level and changed at the correct intervals.

Well worth getting a copy, for use now or in the future..
