Avensis 2005 Clutch

Hi all,

I have an Avensis 1.8 t3x 2005 bought as a pre reg at 50 miles.

I've now done 240,000 miles with only an alternator and starter motor replaced (usual wear and tear service items as normal).

It's been awesome, mostly motorway miles.

Now my clutch is on its way out, seems to be slipping when I try to accelerate.

Anyone got any idea what I'm likely to be charged at Toyota for a fitted replacement compared with a mobile independent type mechanic? Would it be worth the extra to get it done with Toyota?

cheers guys...

There will be a substantial additional cost if you go to the Dealership. The price of the original parts would cover much of the labour costs charged by a reputable garage. If you're needing a local recommedation talk to a taxi driver. At the mileage you've driven the car can't justify the expense which would be for sentimental reasons only. Also, the dealer would only try to confince you that the fly wheel needs changing too!

thanks Gazza,

you're right, I think a little sentimentality is creeping in.

Trouble is, do I pay to maintain or do I pay to borrow for a replacement car? Not sure I can afford another similar model with all the extras I've been spoilt with unless I look for an older second hand car, which risks me being faced with an unexpected repair bill. It's a gamble I suppose.

At 240000 miles I'm pretty sure other things are worn out and i'm going to be paying for more and more.
