I have T27 (2012) with the same engine and it has 425tkm on the clock... No injectors replaced. And as far as I know, it is not an issue with these engines.

I don't know about cleaning products, but they probably wouldn't hurt either?

Rang a few diesel specialist and they all said you have to go to Toyota for those ones. I found places online but they're generally more expensive than Toyota. In fact Toyota down south has been the cheapest place I've looked so far. I think they're denso and they changed the production process from 2015 onwards to improve them. I think it's corrosion at the tips is the main issue. I think Toyota suggests changing all four just to side step any messing but it's like 1500e.

Wow, that's good going. It's Toyota who gave me the impression. Was in there 2 years ago and in general conversation with the parts guy. I was asking him what I could be expecting and he said injectors and epb can give trouble in them but ither than that they're solid. When I called with the vsc issue, they even said at 135k km (100k miles), the injector issue was right on queue. Age apparently can play its part as well. My sister has a 2015 T27 (1AD) and it has 300k km and I don't think she ever touched the injectors either (her epb is gone though). So maybe I could get away with replacing just the one. Or at least take my chances and only replace when they go bad - if they ever will.

I thought that was more of an issue on the 2.2 (2AD). But after some reading, it can happen the 1AD as well....yikes!

Hi all, I've read the whole thread for this Topic, but it does not come to a conclusion that I saw for a different Topic a few months ago and now can't find. I have an Avensis 2011 1.8 Petrol.  Periodically, the VSC and Check Parking Brake System warning lights come on.  It's been through diagnostics which clears the lights, but does indicate the problem as they always come back on sooner or later.  Even more occasionally when the lights are on it goes into "Limp Home Mode",  Stopping the car, turning off the ignition and restarting gets it out of Limp Home Mode, but doesn't always clear the warning lights.  A local mechanic suggested it was blocked or faulty Variable Valve Timing Oil Control Valve Solenoids.  So, I first cleaned and refitted them and eventually bought new ones and fitted those, but it didn't sort the problem.  The lights kept coming on. 

Yesterday, a new fault: the parking brake came on and wouldn't go off until I stopped, turned off the ignition and restarted a few mins later.  No repeat of that so far.

A different local mechanic suggested it was the parking brake Actuator that was faulty and replacing it may solve the problem.  The car is largely worthless with the lights on and I'm worried about the problems happening when my wife is driving.  The Actuator will cost around £300 plus labour.  I'm tempted to have the work done, but after the blind alley of the Solenoids its not something to do lightly if its not going to fix the problem. 

This Topic just runs and runs, but any advice welcome.

The fault can also be in the vvt-i actuator at the end of the camshaft (inlet and exhaust). It could be worn out and stucked somehow...

The epb warning light is a general sign that something is wrong with the car. Usually not related to the epb itself.

Thanks avetoy.  Perhaps I used the wrong name for the Solenoids as my Avensis is a Valvematic.  You are right there is something wrong with my car, but the only lead I have is for the Parking Brake Actuator.  Sadly, I did not ask for the fault codes.  I will do so next time it happens!

The name was correct, the engine is a dual vvt-i and has those solenoids. It also has intake valve lift control (=valvematic).

Parts 13070A and 13050 are the actuators. I´m afraid only Mr T is the place to get those... Very expensive.

Actuators could be fixed but Mr T won´t do that.

The fault code is the same with the solenoids and the actuators, I think. It is easier to replace the solenoids but that doesn´t always help.

I have the codes: P1047 (Oil supply solenoid); P1055 (O2 sensor/air/fuel mixture); C0200 and C0210 (abs sensor); and C1201 (abs ecu).  I am also aware that the Battery is not in very good health.  It starts the car fine, but has been checked and is getting close to needing to be replaced.  I recall reading on a related thread that a weak Battery can lead to warning light issues (even if the "fault" it indicates is not actually a fault).  I assume it would be worth changing the Battery and seeing if that clears some or all the warning lights.

Hi all, I was kinda hoping for some follow-up advice based on anyone's experience of fixing things where the codes indicated a fault.  I have since had the Battery health checked and it is 69%, but not weak enough to replace yet.  Also, the rear nearside brake caliper has seized.  Now it was not seized when the car was MOT-ed earlier this year, and it was not seized when the brakes were checked in August.  Yet at the time of the brake check the parking brake warning lights were all on.  So, I am not sure if the seized brake was sticking enough at the time to cause the lights to come.  Or if the its a coincidence and there are other problems.  I intend to get the caliper replaced and see what happens to the warning lights and error codes.

Still ANY advice from others it welcome.

Hi Everyone!

I recently had the same problem with my 2009 Avensis 2.0D T4, which I bought in July.    The 'Check Parking Brake' message would occasionally appear when starting the engine (together with the general orange EMS light), and then when I started moving, the 'Check VSC' message would also appear.  However, it would seemingly be random and intermittent (and the messages would sometimes disappear or appear mid-journey).  I plugged in my error code reader and it simply said 'P1625 - X Manufacture Control P16 Computer and Auxiliary outputs', which was not particularly helpful.

One day when driving to work, the Battery light appeared on the dash and the engine started overheating.  Luckily I was only a month into my 3 month warranty from where I bought it.  Problem was the serpentine belt having split and come off (this takes care of the alternator and cooling fan amongst other things, hence the Battery warning light and the overheating).  Managed to drive it to the dealer who replaced it without question.  Of course, they disconnected the Battery in order to do the work, so I had to reset the time and date etc when I got the car back.  I didn't think anything of this at the time, but I'll come back to this later...

After that, the error messages started popping up again, so that's when I checked out this forum (which was extremely helpful in pointing me at where to look, so I'm really grateful!).  I tried Diesel fuel treatment, but the errors still came up.  I also looked at the fuel cap and made sure that was on tightly - no difference.  Someone had also mentioned checking the rear lights and these were all fine.  Tried DPF cleaner but the error messages were still there.  We decided we would live with the issue, although the messages did seem to be coming up more and more often.

My wife visited her parents last week (a 4 hour drive away) and when she was there, she called me to say the car wouldn't start.  There was no power at all - no lights on the dash or Start/Stop button and the central locking wouldn't work. I asked her to video call me so that I could take a look at the battery. The terminal connectors looked fine, so we suspected the battery was dead.  Called the RAC, who came out after a couple of hours, and the guy said he could see right away that the battery connections were not on sufficiently - this was not obvious just by looking at it, but he said he sees this quite a lot these days.  He tightened the connections and the car started with no problem.... and you know what?  After 12 hours / 300 miles of driving since then, the error messages have not yet appeared!

Now, I'm guessing that there are many things that could cause those error messages to come up - including of course something mechanically wrong with the parking brake or the VSC system! - but I just thought I'd let you guys know what (finally) seemed to work for me, in case you can also fix it by just checking the battery connectors!!

Thanks for taking the time to share your woes and fixes.  Sadly, there is no problem with my Battery connections.  I've checked them and they have also been checked twice as part of free Halfords checks.  The Battery is weak at 69% so there may be a link with your insufficient Battery connections.  I'm tempted to buy a new battery and see what happens!

Hi I had this problem ,replaced egr valve ,lights returned ,changed back caliper,returned again.Then I thought might be injector.So I filled tank with HVO (HYDROTREATED VEG OIL) a direct replacement for diesel and within 30mins driving lights disappeared.Turns out I have a faulty injector  (400 K kms) but she's running like a clock again, I fill /top up with HVO once every 2 months HVO burns at higher temp and cleans the fuel system and gives 100kms extra per tank .its dearer than diesel but it keeps the car sweet and has put the  costly injector replacement off for a good while now ,plan to keep using it until NCT is passed. ALSO no emissions problems with HVO , CircleK sell it at some outlets
