Any idea how to connect via bluetooth to Avensis 2010 TR , radio W53828?

Found a few commands online/youtube that supposedly work(like pair phone, setup, help) but none work on mine, whatever I say it just displays Pardon? or Dial or Not Linked or sometimes shows a phone number and says a name

Any idea how to get it to pair?

The instructions are on page 364 of the owners manual of the early generation generation of the T27, with the W53828 audio system.

Step 1. Press Phone answer button on the steering wheel, then select "Pair Phone" by using Tune/File control on the audio unit.

Step 2. Register a phone name by either of the following methods.

a. Select "REcord Name" by using Tune/File control, and say name to be registered.

b. Press "Speak" button on the steering and say name to be registered.

Step 3. "Confirm" by by using Tune/File control.

Step 4. a pass key is displayed. Enter that passkey in to the phone which should be in pairing mode.

With the Tune/File control it is twist to select function and press to select. The manual does not explain this properly, so you will need to experiment. I had to learn this two years ago when I got my Avensis -

I then added a Bluetooth/USB/microSD adapter, because I have a second phone - W53828 bluetooth only connects one phone at a time and does not support A2DP, plus my music is played from memory sticks.

Hope this helps.

I forgot to add that when you add a number, you have to speak the name of the person for that number. When you want to call a particular person, you have to say the name you registered. The problem is if two names are the same or sound similar. You have to make them sound different or use the surname of one.
The W53828 bluetooth works with my Nokia 625 satnav (It has preloaded maps saved), as the Nokia is classed as 'voice'. When the satnav needs to give me directions, it cuts in muting the music, gives the command then resumes the music. It does not work with my Samsung Galaxy's that I have tried - S3 and S5!  I only found out by accident because I had to go to a location and needed to avoid the worse of traffic. The voice suddenly came through the speaker. It depends on the phone and what bluetooth protocol it uses.
The manual only covers the basics, stating to refer to the phone instructions.
Anyway once you have paired the phone it should work fine.
