MR2 Roadster

Recommended Posts

Well on friday i had the MR2 booked in at the local specialist (Gerald Dale Motorsport), they do a lot of mini racing and are well known within that.

I have added a unichip and the TTE exhaust to the car.

Standard figures for the MR2 Roadster are 138 BHP and 105 Lb Ft Torque.

I came out with:

Power at flywheel (corrected) 163.4 BHP (DIN 70020)

Power at Flywheel (PWR Wheels+Pwr Loss) 167.4 BHP

POWER AT WHEELS 139.5BHP which is MASSIVE i thought?

Power Loss (tyres etc) (calculated) 27.9 BHP

Barometric PRessure: 1030Mb

Thats a good power read out B)

Who mapped it?

As the torque isnt a smooth curve.

Idealy you want a curve like this, then it want feel like it gassping for breath.

I like the "torque table" effect(drive a 1JZ-GTE car you'll feel the attraction!)..

pretty much where ever you are, a big wall of torque :D

I think twenty odd more Gee-Gee's is quite impressive for our power to weight ratio.

If your feeling a little inferior with the high torque figure comparisons, i'll dig out the one i've got for a moped.

I'll give you a shout when my chip arrives and you can bring your "special tool", if that's at all possible. ;)

a flat torque curve makes for the fastest car, most mappers that map cars for acceleration rather than simply high figures always map for flat torque curves.

The way I see it and so does Mikenaincs is that when your racing through the gears you want the torque to be hard and quick not flat line'ing.

Mikes cars are race proven so i'm not arguing with him. lol :D

However my BHP does steady out; there's a slight dip at the moment but I'm hoping the power FC will rectify that problem. :)
