K&n Panel Filter

I recently bought the above for my car and was going to buy the K&N cleaning kit for it but the bloke selling me the panel filter said that there was no need as the car would be scrapped long before the filter needed cleaning. It's a 98 corolla by the way. It didn't sound right to me to be honest as surely a cleaner filter leads to better airflow. I would have thought that a clean once a year would be the minimum. Anyone know what the correct procedure is? The K&N site didn't seem to help.

Hi Phil,

As it's filtering the same amount of air as the standard filter you won't be far wrong if you clean it at the same intervals as you need to change the OEM one. I know that my Apexi needs to be changed every 25,000 miles.
