Spark Plugs - Correct Gapping

Hey guys,

Received some Denzo Iridium IK20s from Opie Oils the other day which I hope to put in to my Corolla TS at the weekend. They come gapped standard at 0.4 which i've heard you usually wouldnt need to adjust.

Any ideas if the TS needs a particular gap size? cant seem to find any information on the internet about this or on the forum, but i've heard the gapping can make a difference to the running of the car and some set IK20s to 0.32 or 0.28 but in different cars.

Dont want my coil packs failing or anything!

Cheers

Denso spark plugs are recomended with 1.0-1.1 mm gap (of course, this means 0.3976")

I think you mean 0.03976'' not 0.3976'' ( that is between 10 and 11 mm )

Easy slip of the keyboard. :D

sorry, you are right, 0.03976'' is correct, it's little bigger than 1mm

Thanks guys, I popped them in today and it only took 30 mins.

Left them at the standard 0.4mm at its running smooth so all is good. I had to change them as on my last service they put in some standard NGKs, not Iridium.

To be fair the plugs didnt look in too bad condition considering they are the wrong heat range, I thought they would be toasted. Probably just my imagination but it seems to pick up speed a lot easier in 5th / 6th now. :) Picking up some new lift bolts of Tuesday, the fun continues.
