Hi, I'm having problems with my Toyota Corolla AE82. It suddenly died on me and now will occasionaly start then dies on warm up :(. I'v disconnected the cold start injector - there plenty of petrol one side of it, but when the ignition is turned on just a dribble comes out of it, do you think the injector is blocked?

Thanks hope you can help.

You could measure the resistance of the cold start injector - normally about 2 - 4 ohms.

Also you can remove it from the inlet manifold, reconnect the harness and fuel line and test it off the car - place it in a container and connect the B+ and the FP terminals of the check connector under the bonnet - you should have a good fuel delivery and spray pattern.

Another possibility is the Cold Start Temp sensor being faulty - if it goes open circuit or there is a break in the wiring, the ecu will double the injection volume ( over what it normally is at 80 degrees C ) the engine will run rich and stall.

Hope some of this helps,

Mick
