1997 Colorado Lower Ball Joint Warning

Hi Folks. I feel duty bound to warn of a possible failure of the passenger side Lower Ball Joint.

Having noticed some "wandering" with my vehicle I inspected the underside.

The "castle" nut retaining the ball joint had loosened to the point that there was just a couple of mm

of thread holding it in place. The split-pin was nowhere to be seen.

There didn't seem to be excessive play in the steering or any other warning signs.

I havent attempted ant repair yet.

After some subsequent research on the matter, I came across a few nasty pics on the TLOCUK site that seem to suggest

that this may not be an isolated incident.

TLOCUK Post here.
