Out of interest, what does a clean/dirty one look like. Sounds silly but I just had a gander at mine and noticed nothing obviously nasty, but tbh theres not alot going on in it! Just two metal spikes with a glob of something on the end (amber coloured) and a plastic lug with a hole in it!

just came across this topic after cleaning my MAF today- mine was clean anyway and its just a thin little wire thats shaped like a bulb- a dirty one is covered in black soot type stuff. a clean one you can see the orange wire on either side and is almost shiney. theres wires inside another part of it too- i gave it all a good spray with contact cleaner from a distance coz the force of the spray can be too hard from up close and that's sort it. gave the connector a spray too. 5 min job.x
