Hi, again RE: my 2001 51 1.8vvti Hatch SR

Iv'e noticed with the bonnet up...when you turn on that throttle thingy that makes the engine rev...i can hear a clearly prominent "shhhhhhhhhhh" sound thats coming from somewhere possibly the throttle body housing...i dont think its coming from the head gasket...but its as if its coming right from that "thingy" that you can rev the car with...is this normal? ie like a pressure release? Or is it abnormal where i loose power? Please let me know. Thanks in advance.
