i still have the same problem, that at certain engine/outside/interior temperatures...the clutch pedal pinches as i engage and release clutch.

Hi and welcome to the club.

Can you add more detail to your profile so we can see what model you have.

Also, I don't quite understand your terminology. Can you describe what you mean by pinching. Do you mean it sticks down at the floor?

hi anchorman, i will put more detail in my profile, not quite use to this site!

i have a rav4 xtr d-4d 2231cc

i bought it from new august 2008

from new,i have had a pinching effect through the clutch pedal

the action of the clutch its self is smooth

each time i depress and release clutch pedal (if it was a clutch cable system) one would think,it's the inner cable catching on the outer cable.

i have been told by my dealer, toyota comanpy know of this problem,i believe there are 2000 vehicles that may have same defect.

about a month ago...my dealers replaced the clutch bracket assemly and the clutch pedal.

they were inrtucted bt toyoya to do this..modification.

BUT...i still have the same defect!

so in desparation...have placed my thoughts on toyota owners club web site...to see if others, have had the same!

regards rex....."harrirav4"

Can you actually HEAR anything, like a bearing rattling, when you depress or release the clutch? And does that noise decrease when you depress and hold the pedal to the floor?

This might point to a dodgy thrust bearing, but if you have had a complete new assembly under warranty, one would presume that would be done also too forbye.....?

Clutching at straws,

Big Kev :(

I would also be looking at the muff bracket (yes folkes, this rather unfortunate name really does exist and refers to the tube on which the thrust bearing slides over the gearbox input shaft) and how well the thrust bearing fits.
