(read it here http://toyotaownersclub-irl.forumoti...rsion-t429.htm)

went out today and did it... much better braking! got them off a 1998 avensis 1.6.

you need the caliper, the carrier and pads,

carrier and caliper fits straight on to the corolla hub,

corolla brake line bolts straight on to the caliper

you can use the corolla disc

(left is corolla, right is avensis)

(this was just a quick try, the pad sits properly, no touching lol )

Nice one, but if they fit on the same discs, same pads, and same hubs..... are they not the same? The AE92 had rubbish brakes and then on the Late-Spec they swapped it out for Celica ST162 Callipers at the front which were bigger so you needed bigger discs.

It must be something to do with the Callipers inner workings then....

But still, glad you got better braking so cheaply!

it uses avensis pads and the piston is bigger than corolla one..

I get it now, ok now it makes sense.

Glad you made it better, however you will still need to declare it as a modification despite it is a Toyota part. Insurance companies will try to get out of paying anything...

Yeh they will get the arse with you if you don't tell them, if you are lucky then they will consider it to be a part that increases safety and nothing will change, but if you are doubly lucky they may reduce your premiums.... highly unlikely though....
